Pink
Colors became bolder later in the Crinoline years and into the First and Second Bustle that followed. After Tenniel's yellow version, this pink dress came into favor in Alice illustrations.
At four years of age, a Victorian girl's skirt ended just below the knee. Her skirts became progressively longer as she grew up, until reaching full length at age sixteen. Omitted in Tenniel's illustrations are the pantalettes that would likely have peeked below the hemline of a girl of Alice's age.
